Moriah’s Story

“What makes you vulnerable makes you beautiful.” ~Brene Brown

To be vulnerable, you have to be okay with all of you. Being vulnerable is not just about showing the parts that are shiny, pretty, and fun. It’s about bringing to light what you keep in the shadow of who you truly are. It’s about letting down the walls around our hearts and allowing others to peek in. Consciously choosing vulnerability is a sign of courage, strength, and beauty.

Moriah is one of our beautiful models at The Valle, and we are very excited to have her be a part of The Beauty Dilemma community and to share her story.

I think the ideal that society wants us to all look the same, and because I’m forced to be different and try to own that and be confident and know that all my differences and uniquenesses make me beautiful."

Though we all don’t share the same story, our mutual understanding of what it is like to be different connects us all. Being active and having faith are some of the things that Moriah connects with the most in life. She loves to spend time outside as much as she can and enjoys snowboarding: It gives her that exciting, free feeling of adrenaline, but also calm and harmony as she glides down the sparkling, white slopes. Getting to know herself on a deeper level has allowed her to become more confident, and into the person she is today.

Some say that life chooses its strongest warriors for the toughest battles. I like to believe it’s not just the battle that shapes a warrior, but how that person decides to show up and handle the situation. Moriah’s courage, perseverance, and optimistic personality contributed to her life’s biggest battle yet. At a very young age, she was diagnosed with cancer in her left knee. Only a week from the moment she found out, she began her journey towards healing. Giving up was never an option for Moriah.

After going through surgery, Moriah feared losing her sense of self. However, her positivity, perseverance, and strong inner foundation were constant reminders of her shining beauty and strength despite all she would endure.

Moriah’s optimism allowed her to envision and manifest a future where she is healthy, happy, and active again. She pushed through physiotherapy regardless of how difficult, frustrating, or exhausting it had been at times, striving to reach that healthy, happy future. She never allowed herself to give up. Her perseverance is truly inspiring, and a reminder to never allow anyone or anything to dictate your life.

Staying true to your roots during life’s most difficult periods is challenging, but very important. In a world where doubt and uncertainty threaten at every corner, the only person who can truly believe in yourself is you. It is that unwavering conviction that you are capable, worthy, and deserving that makes you unstoppable.

Moriah’s story reminds us that even life’s most difficult challenges can be overcome with a positive frame of mind and inner strength, where beauty resides. Her advice to the Beauty Dilemma is to own the things about you that make you different. As you age, you will realize that people are drawn to your uniqueness.

Authenticity is alluring and we are here to encourage you to embrace it!

Moriah has taught us the value of keeping a positive attitude through difficult times and remembering where our inner power truly stems from. At the Beauty Dilemma, we encourage our community to embrace that light that shines within.
